Half Day Miri City Tour MBMYYH01

Miri was declared as a resort city in 2005. This half-day tour takes participants to places of interest and historical sites such as the Oil Well No. 1, best known as the Grand Old Lady. It is situated on the top of Canada Hill, which has an excellent view of Miri City. The discovery of oil a century ago in Miri is significant in the history of Malaysia's oil industry. The well's last oil production was in 1972.

There are interesting photos, and details of the history of the development of the oil and gas industries in Malaysia, at the Petroleum Museum.

The tour proceeds with a tour of Tamu Muhibbah - a native market where one can find exotic foods, beautiful Sarawak handicrafts, the famous fragrant Bario rice from the upriver area, remedies made from local herbs, and animal bi-products among others.

Visitors can stroll through the award-winning Miri City Fan. This world-class urban civic park has a botanical garden and an Islamic garden, a colorful music fountain, a large amphitheatre, a public swimming pool and even the modern Miri I.T. Library.

For locals, it is a wonderful place to stroll, jog or just chill out.

The half-day tour starts with pick up from the hotel.

The first destination is the historical site of the Grand Old Lady, situated on the top of Canada Hill, which offers an excellent view of Miri City. The tour will then visit the Petroleum Museum, Tamu Muhibbah, and the award-winning Miri City Fan, the Taoist Temple, and Miri Heritage.

Participants are dropped off at the hotel at the end of the tour.
